What You Need to be Reminded of in this Overwhelming World
Dear Jesus,
I do not have much peace today Lord. The unrest of the world, the uncertainty of the future, even the unrest between your saints is difficult to contend with Lord. I am flailing, wavering, weak and tired.
Assure me of your peace Lord.
Your presence is the very breath I breathe and you surround me, therefore, peace is mine for you said, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” John 14:27.
But fear.
Oh, Father, fear is fierce and vile.
Fear is trying to knock me off my feet and bulldoze my heart and mind. Fear violates the truth. How can I combat it? How can I win this battle when fear comes in the form of sickness, upheaval, and chaos.
Remind me of your Love Jesus.
God you are the standard of love, your love is sealed upon my heart, “your love is better than life” Psalm 63:3. What do I have to fear? For “his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys the midday…no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent” Ps. 91 4-11.
When I am flailing, remind me to be still and sink deep into your unfailing love.
Despite my wavering, you are always faithful.
You are a “strong tower, where the righteous man runs into and is safe” Proverbs 18:10.
Teach me to welcome weakness, Lord.
For “when I am weak, then I am strong,” 2 Cor. 12:10. For you Lord are “strong and mighty” Ps. 24:8.
When I am tired you give me rest.
You are the “sustainer of my soul” Ps. 54:4. “…but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” Isaiah 40:31.
Help me Father to, “not grow weary in doing good” Galatians 6:9. “Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths” Ps. 25:4.
Lead me toward what is good Father, teach me to strive for what is Godly, help me walk in what you have called me to on this day Lord.
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” Ps. 118:24. “Restore to me the Joy of your salvation and sustain me with a willing sprit” Ps. 51:12.
My God, you have always been faithful. Give us courage, Father. Bring forth a miracle into our lives daily. Remind us again and again that though we live in this overwhelming world, You have overcome.
So be it and let it be, Amen.
